Tammy’s journey began amidst the rugged beauty of outport Newfoundland and Labrador, where the entrepreneurial spirit shaped her worldview. Raised by parents who modelled hard work and innovation, Tammy grew up with a deep appreciation for the community and the land that surrounded her. This foundation instilled in her a drive for excellence and a passion for creating meaningful change.

Graduating with honours from Memorial University’s Bachelor of Commerce program, Tammy developed a robust understanding of business dynamics, complemented by a minor in Economics. Her academic achievements laid the groundwork for her Certified Associate in Project Management designation, providing her with a comprehensive skill set in project management, strategic planning, and organizational governance. These skills were further honed through her work in leadership roles across multiple sectors, where she gainedexperience managing complex operations, financial planning, and organizational Strategy.

As Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Paskwâw Harbour, Tammy has demonstrated her ability to lead with vision, collaboration, and purpose. She plays a key role in guiding organizational strategy, overseeing project management with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations, and navigating the intricate balance between administrative and financial management. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement, particularly with Indigenous communities, is rooted in her deep understanding of cultural sensitivities and the importance of inclusive leadership. These experiences have cultivated her skills in negotiation, communication, and partnership-building, all critical to bridging diverse perspectives and driving business success. 

In addition to her leadership and project management skills, Tammy has extensive experience in governance. Serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity in the Northwest Territories and as Strategic Relations Manager for the Women in Project Management Northern Alberta Chapter from 2020 to 2022, she provided strategic oversight, ensuring the organizations adhered to governance best practices and contributed to long-term sustainability and impact. Her ability to understand and address socio-economic and cultural barriers has been essential in her work on boards and in advocacy.

Tammy’s skills focus on advocacy for women and Indigenous entrepreneurs. She successfully built networks and supported initiatives that empowered women in male-dominated fields. Her ability to mentor, advocate, and foster connections highlights her leadership skills in driving change and supporting women to overcome barriers in their professional growth.

Beyond her professional expertise, Tammy’s role as the 2024 Newfoundland Rose of Tralee and 2018 Miss Newfoundland and Labrador underscores her strong public speaking and community engagement skills. These roles have allowed her to serve as a public ambassador, where her natural ability to communicate effectively and inspire others has shone through. Her commitment to amplifying the voices of local businesses, non-profits, and underrepresented communities is a testament to her leadership and advocacy.
