Ben Anderson
Ben is a proud Red River Metis citizen with kinship relationships to the Goulet, Lagimodiere, Siveright, Macdonell and Mcdougall families of Red River. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ben possesses a deep connection to his home and community. Ben is a proud alumnus of the University of British Columbia and the University of Manitoba, where he majored in Political Science and minored in History. His background in politics and governance is not limited to his education, as Ben is also a former Engagement & Consultation Assistant at the Manitoba Metis Federation, and a former campaign strategist on several successful Federal campaigns in Winnipeg.
In 2022, Ben co-founded a company called Swank Business Solutions. Swank Business Solutions is an Indigenous-owned Digital Marketing and Technology company that operates out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Swank’s mission is to empower Canadian businesses and organizations with the digital solutions that are required to grow and optimize their operations. Prior to the inception of Swank, Ben and his partners realized the technology gap that not only Indigenous businesses face in Canada, but all Canadian businesses face compared to their global counterparts. Swank’s mission is a two pronged approach which aims to empower and uplift fellow Indigenous businesses, while closing the technology gap and contributing to digital adoption across the Canadian economy.
Since their inception, Swank has been able to assist clients coast to coast with digital marketing services and technology solutions. They were approved as Digital Advisors under the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP), a Federal grant program which enabled small and medium sized enterprises to access funding for digital consultation and transformation. Swank maintains a very high percentage of Indigenous clients with over 75% of their client’s being Indigenous-owned businesses. Recently, Swank has begun to provide services to public institutions and Canadian corporations.
Through Ben’s background in politics, government, and his experience as an Indigenous person, Swank is able to provide sensitive and unique marketing and communications services to a variety of clients under his leadership.
